Oops, I didn't turn MSI On after burning the disc.
I just lost $1400 AUD due to forgetting to turn on my MSI Afterburner Auto Fan setting. I used Manual Override for Fan Speed/Temp the night before to pre-load Fallout 4 while I slept. The next day, I played mostly without gaming until around 9 PM when I opened Black Ops 3 and started multiplayer. About 50 minutes in, I noticed overheating sounds and realized my headphones were too warm. Using RivaTuner, I saw my GPU reaching over 90°C at just 20% fan speed. I quickly closed the game and set the fan to full speed, but it wasn’t fast enough and my screen went black. Now I have two damaged cards, so I shut down my PC with the power button on the case. I waited for everything to cool before installing my old R7 250 graphics card. Thanks to a mistake—I’ll never play Fallout 4 again. Edit: The two cards lost were GTX 980 Ti HOF.
Don't be too hard on yourself, buddy. It's not impossible! I wish you better hands soon:/ Sorry to hear that.
You determine they're deceased by observing signs and identifying the specific cards involved.
I attempted to reboot my machine using those, but no cards were detected as Dual GTX 980 Ti HOF.
Yes, it's time to check things out.
What do you think?
Are you ready for some good vibes?
Let's see if we're in the zone!
They might not function if you try to restart them right away. Consider keeping them in the case for a while. Check the PCB(s) for any unusual signs.
Are there any offers for two GTX 980 Ti HOFs at fifty dollars each? Haha!
