ONT issues
ONT issues
Hi, So have an odd question, So we are looking to have the Router and Switch panel in a Specific room, unfortunately, when upgraded to Fibre the FTTP was installed in a room across from it, The issue is the room it's installed into can't have holes going through the wall and shouldn't have said equipment in it. Unable to relocate the ONT as refuse to pay the £65 to have them come back and be like we can't do that. I am wondering is there any other way to have the ONT transmit to the router Via Extenders or a Mesh network or would that not work? atm its connected via Powerline which is subpar as the Power circuit its on includes the kitchen equipment so you can guess what its like when they are operational. Any suggestions are appreciated
Running a cable appears to be the optimal choice. It seems challenging to execute everything properly. If the ISP can handle it for $65, it looks quite straightforward for me.
Attempt to operate the cable now. Do you have coax in the walls that could be used for MOCA? If not, set up the main mesh node and the router at the location where the ONT is, as those are likely your best choices, and position the remaining mesh nodes throughout the house.
