Just started using the Mobo today. I was really pleased to enter BIOS because for the past couple of days it wouldn’t let me Q-Flash, so the shop installed the newest BIOS for me (version F25). When I inserted the RAM, I tested one at a time until I reached the final module. Out of the four slots on this new Mobo, only three can accommodate my RAM—only the left one works, the others don’t. The system displays 2400MHz instead of the usual 3200MHz. 0|1|1|1 The RAM was functioning in the Z270 Mobo. Asus Prime Z270 AR. Regarding Z690 BIOS, I’m not quite there yet—I’m just upgrading from the Z270. My current specs: PSU: Corsair RM 1000, Mobo: Z690-Gigabyte Aorus Elite DDR4, CPU: 13600k, GPU: 970G1 Gigabyte. I’ve modified the BIOS. RAM: two x Team T-Force Vulcan Z 16GB (8GB each) at 3200MHz CL16 DDR4, Windows 10 home 64-bit. Cooling setup: Custom Loop with all EK parts; fan placement is 120 at back, 240 at top, 360 at bottom, and 480 at front with Vader fans. I wanted all four RAM modules installed simultaneously, purchased together, and everything worked fine. I tested a game recently and it ran smoothly. Thanks!
It might be anything at all—could involve the memory controller. There could be a faulty or missing socket pin, a damaged LGA pad, or a broken trace leading to the first DIMM slot. Try re-seating your CPU and inspect for any damage on the bottom or inside the socket.
I considered this too. Also move the stick into that slot. The CPU socket looks good now. No bent pins as I thought; I carefully placed it in, then the Velocity 2 water block came in. The Cinebench score was 19k, which is a big jump from the 7600k. I’m not sure to explain more this morning since I’m running late. Thanks for the suggestions, Alinz. I also have a Vengeance 2133mhz RAM that passed the test as well. The new one is 3200mhz, though—2400 says it’s wrong to me.
Update made. Removed the third RAM stick and inserted the other one in the first slot, like 1|1|0|1. It seems working with just three RAM sticks in the motherboard works fine. Still reports 2400MHz. I’m curious about the voltage—my RAM shows 1.35V and BIOS says 1.200V DRAM Voltage Control. Could be the voltage setting. I’m thinking maybe increasing it gradually to reach 1.35V. It might be that only three sticks function at a time due to the lower voltage. But good news: all four RAM sticks are compatible with the board, even though only three are active at once.
