I own the Zyxel EMG2926-Q10A as my main router at home. It’s connected directly to my PC because it’s right next to it. I also have another PC and some gadgets in the living room that need a wired link. I discovered a good router (D-Link DIR-880L) in storage and considered placing the second router near the living room. I planned to run just one cable from the Zyxel to the D-Link, then connect my other devices to the D-Link via LAN. It functioned smoothly with minimal effort. However, when I checked the speed on the living room PC, it was only 100 Mbit/s. Is there something I’m missing? Thanks. P.S. I have a 57-foot Ethernet cable from the Zyxel to its LAN port and from the D-Link’s WAN port to my internet connection. My living room devices are all plugged into the D-Link’s LAN ports.

Avoid running more than one router in the default setup on the same network unless you're familiar with the process. This can lead to double NAT, IP conflicts, and frequent disconnections. Refer to the guide for configuring the DLink router in AP mode. Assign a static LAN IP to the DIR-880L outside of the Zyxel's DHCP range and set the gateway to the Zyxel's LAN address. Ensure LAN connections are properly wired. If link speed stays consistent, switch to a different Ethernet cable (Cat5e or higher).
