Hello, I've been trying to understand this situation for several hours. To give you a brief overview: I was using two 8GB RAM modules in my MOBO (MSI B85-G43 Gaming) when it was my first build. Later, I added another single 4GB stick because a friend gave it to me. Over time, I realized that the RAM should match the slowest module, which is 4GB. Recently, I bought two more 8GB sticks of the same type (Kingston Hyper X Fury DDR3 1866MHZ) hoping to improve performance and durability.

Before swapping, I tested the RAM speed – it only recognized 12GB of DDR3, with just 7.9GB actually used. This was disappointing. The morning after, I removed the 4GB stick and replaced it with the new ones. Initially thought this would fix things, but it backfired, causing more issues than before. After finishing the installation, my system booted up and now has a total of 16GB available – which should be 32GB if everything is correct.

I’ve tried various software fixes like MSCONFIG and adjusting bandwidth settings, but none worked beyond 16GB. I also removed some sticks to test if the new ones were faulty, but the PC still wouldn’t boot properly. The BIOS showed all RAM slots correctly, though each only displayed 888MHz – matching the max limit.

I checked for a faulty stick and confirmed everything was functioning as expected in the BIOS explorer. Still, I’m unsure how to get these sticks running at their intended speed or capacity. Here’s what I’ve tried:

- Confirmed Windows 64-bit support and MOBO compatibility with 32GB.
- Ran msconfig and expanded bandwidth; BIOS offered DDR3-1600mhz.
- Looked for memory remapping settings but found nothing.
- Reset CMOS using a screwdriver per the manual.
- Tried changing DRAM frequency to the highest setting available.
- Searched for memory remapping options without success.

Hardware adjustments included resetting the BIOS and reinstalling firmware, removing apps and settings, but no resolution.

My main concern is ensuring these sticks operate correctly at the right speed. Any advice or insights would be invaluable. Thanks.

Did you verify the BIOS on your board matches the newest release? Have you tested booting from each of the four slots individually—starting with one stick in A1, then A2, B1, and B2—to ensure full functionality?

All available slots display a RAM stick in your BIOS configuration. Each is operating at 888MHz.
