Hello everyone, I’m experiencing an unusual problem with my PC since yesterday. It only manages to download at half its internet speed. It looks like something is restricting bandwidth usage. You can check the speed test results here and also see them in Uplay. The same issue appears with Steam. Everything seems properly configured—my CAT6 cable is in use, and I can confirm a 100Mbps download using Nperf in my browser. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Consider another internet speed test using fast.com, which relies on Netflix's infrastructure. You'll likely notice ISPs enhancing speed test results to make performance appear higher than it truly is. Additionally, your connection will be constrained by the limits of Steam/UPlay speeds, potentially causing further delays.

I've used fast.com, yet it reports your connection is under 50 Mbps, which seems unusual.

I tested the download on my laptop while using maximum speed, but it didn’t start even though it was plugged in and running on battery with eco mode enabled.

I see what you're referring to—it's slower than the 50Mbps offered by Steam/UPlay and lower than the 90Mbps reported by Speedtest.net. It suggests your ISP doesn’t handle all internet traffic equally. With this in mind, it makes the problem seem more like an issue on your PC rather than with your connection. You might want to check in Steam settings under Downloads to see if the region matches what you expect and confirm that bandwidth limits aren’t restricted.

If you can't or don't want to assist, just let it go and proceed.

There’s nothing planned to limit performance. I attempted to configure the Uplay throttle at 200mbps but it didn’t work. For reference, both systems use SSD storage—one with an Intel i7 and the other with an AMD Ryzen 7.

Have you managed to switch to a different download server on Steam? Yet all this data suggests there might be some QoS settings on your router affecting your download speed on Steam/UPlay.

You confirmed the check, but your router shows QOS is off. It might be related to a program on your PC. You haven’t installed anything new lately.

I haven’t identified any specific tools that would noticeably change download speed. The only obvious options seem to be basic utilities (such as QoS or network enhancement programs). Other adjustments I can think of are within Steam/UPlay settings (like bandwidth caps) or system-wide networking controls (such as configuring your network card limits). It’s puzzling why this is occurring, and I’m unsure what steps to recommend. One possible approach could be setting up a 4G hotspot on your phone to link your PC, which would help isolate the issue to your computer rather than your home network. This method needs WiFi support on your PC or USB tethering on your device.
