Only operating at 2133MHz on the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3600kit
I have an MSI Z270 Gaming Carbon Pro(bios version:E7A63IMS.190), with an i7 7700k. I've looked into it before buying the RAM and could not find a reason to why this wouldn't work with it. So I am curious if there is any other reason at all. When I try to enable XMP in the bios it takes a long time for it to try something, and then tells me to reset to default values, it does exactly the same when I try to manually switch it to 3600 or any other value above 2133 for that matter. I'll drop links of my hardware at the bottom. Was just curious if anyone had any idea if I could fix this in any way at all, or if I should contact where I bought the RAM to see if they could exchange it for me. If I can provide any more information please let me know and I'll try to do this as soon as possible. Thanks in advance! Welcome to the discussion board! Keep in mind that results may differ depending on the memory model you're using, but an OC is still possible. XMP functions as a standard auto-OC for memory, so it won't work here. You won't be able to use XMP, but you can manually tweak the DRAM's speed and voltage. Verify your memory is installed correctly (refer to the manual). Next, install MemTest86 and run it to check for any problems with your memory setup. If everything looks good, proceed by turning off XMP in BIOS, navigating to advanced options, and using the AI tweaker (note: terminology can vary). Adjust your memory's frequency gradually—starting at 2666MHz, then increasing in small steps to 2700MHz or higher. Set the voltage to 1.3500V and SOC to 1.100V. Save changes and exit BIOS. If you encounter a boot loop, the OC likely wasn't stable. After a successful test in Windows, run a stress test like Cinebench R15 to confirm stability. Remember, stability during testing isn't the same as real-world performance. Windows error codes about memory will indicate instability. If issues arise, increase voltage in small increments (0.010V) until you reach a stable frequency—ideally around 3600MHz or higher. A rough approach is to go from 3066MHz up to 3600MHz, testing each stage for consistency.
I’m having trouble locating this feature to boost voltages. It seems like a new term I haven’t encountered. Could it mean my motherboard lacks this? I checked the BIOS updates, but none relate to memory issues. I’d prefer not to investigate that route.
I gradually raised it, reaching 1.35v on the DRAM and achieving 3066MHz, though I’m still struggling to exceed that speed, which is quite far from the 3600:/ target.
Raise the voltage level, but keep it under 1.450V for safety.
I've already reached up to 1.450v, but it won't start at 3100MHz:/ EDIT. Also tested in the other two slots, no changes noticed at all. Updated January 28, 2021 by MugiWario. Forgot details.
