My computer didn't start today even though it was running perfectly for three months. It's still using the same setup, and when I shut it down last night everything was fine. I have an MSI B450 motherboard, which doesn't show a postcode, but it has error lights and the GPU error light is on. I thought my GPU failed, but it worked when I used another system. I began removing the cables one by one and noticed it stopped booting only when both drives were connected. When I plugged in the drives one at a time, just one was blocking startup. I've tried different combinations and they all work. So this particular drive seems to be the issue. I'm wondering if the power supply unit might be the problem, or maybe the motherboard is misidentifying it as the GPU when it's actually dead. Any idea what's happening?
It seems the failed drive is blocking the system's self-check during startup. Identifying the drive type could help. A spinning disk might be involved, or there could be an older mechanical setup.
The freezer method isn't effective anymore for today's storage devices because of the extreme density and precise requirements.
