Hey, I'm experiencing some issues across three games—Rocket League, Fortnite, and a modded version of Terraria. Rocket League pauses briefly every minute, Fortnite shows low 1% but normal FPS, and Terraria is the more bothersome one. I play both on the lowest settings except for resolution. Fortnite runs smoothly with only a tiny frame rate, while Terraria feels a bit sluggish under heavy projectile loads, sometimes causing my friend's CPU to crash at 2600x.
For reference:
- Use Windows Samsung 970 EVO as main drive
- Other games on Samsung 980 GPU
- Monitor: 1440p 144Hz (ASUS VG270U)
- GPU and 980 model from January 2021

on warmer days the CPU can reach up to 60°C, typically staying around 40-50°C, while the GPU hits about 70°C. Since I don’t have air conditioning, the room stays near 30°C.
It seems there might be a RAM issue related to Fortnite. Could you tell me how much RAM your system has? For devices with 16GB RAM, it’s not uncommon for Fortnite to consume significant memory.
I've experienced trouble with a 1080 Ti on a 2700X. I'm planning to upgrade to a 5700X3D soon. Just update the BIOS on your motherboard and you'll be good to go. I also faced similar problems in certain games, but performance improved after adjusting my RAM. If you're using 3200MHz RAM, expect XMP/DOCP support to fail—manually set timings and voltage instead.
It matches the kit I received before, but it didn't work with DOCP on the 5800X3D. Check the BIOS, turn off XMP (DOCP), and adjust the DRAM frequency to 3200. In the timing settings, use primary timings of 16-16-18-18-38 at 1.35V. All other parameters can remain automatic. If you have any adjustments or overclocks for the CPU, keep them set to automatic, including PBO (set to auto).
The performance section in Task Manager highlights which resources are consuming the most attention—CPU, RAM, and GPU—while also showing memory usage trends during Fortnite play. Screenshots can capture these spikes and help identify bottlenecks.
