Hello, over the years I've used ADSL at 8mb, but today I switched to fiber at 200mb. My ISP router supports four gigabit Ethernet ports, and I'm using a CAT5e cable with my TP-Link TG-3468 adapter. All speed tests indicate 100mb upload and download, while Windows Network Center shows 100mb. I've set the adapter to 1.0Gbps, restarted both devices, changed the ports, and installed the official and Windows drivers—still nothing different. My MSI Z97 gaming motherboard has a damaged LAN port, an i5 4460 GTX1060 with 6GB RAM, and a DDR3 router (model gr241ag).

I just need to understand how you managed to fry the Ethernet port.

I didn’t, I bought the motherboard for a friend, but it was already damaged, maybe they got in trouble because it’s a super fast Ethernet port.

It made me laugh so hard it felt real. He ended things, right? So does that make him a killer? Not really.

Also, have you tested a different port on the router? Some are set up as IPTV or WAN, etc., and you ran into that before. Try another cable—preferably Cat 6 if possible. [edit] Ignore changing ports; just noticed you mentioned doing so.

I’ve kept using the Windows driver, but because I now have a 200MB drive I require gigabit speeds. I’ve downloaded the proper drivers and installed them, yet only 100MB is visible.
