I purchased a Gigabyte Aorus RTX 3090 Ti Extreme Waterforce and set it up today. Everything started working properly, but the cooling fans were always off until the GPU reached around 60-65 degrees. Once they kicked in at 100%, they cooled the system to about 50 degrees and then turned off again. I attempted to adjust the fan curve in Afterburner, but it didn’t make a difference. It’s not the noise itself that bothers me, but how loudly the fans switch on and off is quite disruptive. Anyone have suggestions on what might be causing this issue?

Yes, I ensured the fans were connected to a manageable system.

There were just a few available connections besides the power and PCIe links to the MOBO. That means you should be able to manage it using Afterburner or similar tools, treating it like a regular GPU.

The fans must connect to a device that manages their speed for effective control.

Examining the setup reveals a single wire linking every fan to the GPU, indicating fan control is possible. Determining how to adjust the fan curves to prevent constant 100% operation is unclear.

If the default GPU connection can't be managed, connect the fans to another adjustable header and change its speed settings.

I believe I fixed it. I replaced the GPU and also unplugged the PWM wires going to each fan, then reconnected them. When it starts up, the fans on the GPU began spinning.
