Your 12TB WD drive functions only when plugged into a third-party case. Attempts to install it directly into your PC failed, and even after replacing another HDD, it remains unrecognized. There may be an issue with the drive’s compatibility or installation method.

I removed a 6TB HDD that was functioning properly while I worked and installed it, but when I took it out again and reinstalled the 6TB, it appeared correctly.

What motivates these actions? Could the nonfunctioning drive have a feature turned off? (Search WD power disable online). This might clarify why it fails on a PC but succeeds in a case. If so, it’s likely a simple fix.
