I'm using a case from a server found on the side of the road, and the only fan spots in the back are 80 mm units. I have some 80 mm fans that came with it, they run quietly but produce noticeable airflow noise, which is too loud for me. Should I stick to just the top 120 mm fans for exhaust, or would skipping the rear ones result in a significant cooling improvement? The top fans sit directly above the heatsink on both sides, while the back 80 mm fans are barely moving. A low-noise adapter from Noctua helps with the front fans, but they move so little air that it feels strange to leave them out. However, I'm concerned because the heatsink fans face the rear units directly.

if you install an 80mm fan, you can reduce its speed until it becomes nearly inaudible. This is possible by accessing the BIOS settings on your motherboard.
