I’m assisting someone in installing Windows 11 and it’s failing to recognize the Wi-Fi card from the motherboard. I went around the setup process, looked at the network options, but found no Wi-Fi adapter listed. It seems Windows is still prompting for an Ethernet connection instead.

The Wi-Fi driver is probably not installed. Check the Windows Device Manager for confirmation.

Have them look for "unknown" devices in Device Manager. There's a 95% chance they just need to install the drivers for their WiFi adapter, and a 5% chance their computer physically doesn't have a WiFi adapter. (Never trust a user's word.)

Use the existing driver for your cabled network. Visit your motherboard manufacturer's site, search for your mainboard, and find the support section for available drivers. Install the downloaded Wi-Fi drivers. If you lack a cable, try transferring them on another computer using a USB drive.

I arranged for them to purchase an Ethernet cable, which they’ll download drivers from. I also tested a Wi-Fi adapter using a video check. I’ll let you know if it works.
