Only Ethernet at 100mbps is working
Hey there, can someone suggest why your Ethernet speed is showing as 100mbps but actually running at 1gbps? In Windows it lists 1gbps, yet when you try to upload files it drops to 100mbps. The light turns orange indicating a 100mbps connection. Your setup uses a 5m Cat 6a cable connected directly to the router on a 1gbps port. Any advice would be super helpful, thanks! Best, Stuck tech dude
It's due to a giga bit per second equating to roughly 125 mega bytes per second, which I think you encountered in Windows copy speeds expressed in MB/s. Keep in mind these are distinct measurements and shouldn't be confused. This value actually reflects the performance of a gigabit connection.
You're seeing the speed listed in MB/s, but it reaches a maximum of 10MB/s. This isn't related to converting bits to bytes.
It seems the issue is likely related to the FE speed setting, possibly due to a faulty cable or connector. Try disconnecting and reconnecting, pulling it out, or giving the device a restart. Let me know your motherboard model if you'd like further assistance.
Your motherboard features a standard Ethernet port for connecting wired networks.
Yeah man, It's bugging me so much! Let me list the steps I've taken to try and fix the issue already. List: Updated Network Drivers Rebooted. Replaced cable. Checked router configurations Tried changing Speed and Duplex setting to 1gbps Full Duplex. This is why I am completely stumped. But transferring Game files at 10MB/s Is shit! Well, it looks like that’s essentially what I’d do. Also, please let us know which router you’re using. Do you have another device that supports gigabit speeds, such as a PC or laptop? Try connecting it directly to the router without the device and perform a copy test. If it still works smoothly over fast Ethernet, it might indicate a problem with your system. Conversely, if it’s running smoothly at gigabit speeds, then the router could be faulty.
