Each time I shut down my PC, I need to reset the CMOS to restart it. I do this by disconnecting the power and removing the battery. The internal power button doesn’t work unless the CMOS is cleared. All other parts have been checked and function correctly. I haven’t received any help from Gigabyte or Amazon yet, so I’m seeking advice on resolving this issue.
XMP auto activation isn't enabled by default. The system is starting up correctly without issues after clearing the CMOS. However, when the PC is powered off, it won't turn on unless the CMOS is reset again. Pressing both the case and motherboard power buttons doesn't resolve the problem.
It seems you're experiencing an issue where the system boots directly into the OS without any changes to the BIOS, then shuts down and doesn't restart. This could indicate a hang. I recommend checking the battery and trying a fresh one, and also consider flashing the latest BIOS to resolve potential corruption.
Weird. This sounds like exactly what I had happen on z390. But I would enable xmp the bios would attempt to start up at least but fail and reboot. Only resetting bios with xmp off got it booting. The last thing I did was have it unplugged, remove ram and bios battery for about a day (waiting for new battery). Installed a brand new Duracell battery, reinstalled everything. Then it was working just fine with xmp.
Is there a power switch built into the motherboard itself, either at the back or on the board? (I’m familiar with the Aorus Master and Aorus Xtreme, but I’m unsure if lower models include one.) If yes, take out all the cables from the case I/O jumper panel and use the switch instead. If it functions correctly, you likely had a misplaced jumper for the case I/O. If not, remove every onboard case I/O jumper except for "PWR_SW" or "PWR_BTN," which should be a two-pin connector. Then test again. Also, look for any onboard CLR_CMOS or CLR_RTC jumper on the board itself. Some boards have a rear I/O clear CMOS button and an internal CMOS jumper—verify that the switch isn’t connected; if it covers both pins, it’s shorted or unconnected, which is acceptable.
