I just assembled my latest gaming setup—GTX 970 and Intel I5 4690K—but it’s only delivering 60 FPS without any issues.

Yes, your monitor displays a standard resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz.

Only 60 frames per second? That's quite impressive, actually.

Yes, I know it doesn’t matter because I’m using a 60Hz display, but I noticed a video showing someone recording at a much higher frequency.

Are the required drivers all set up and is V-Sync turned off?

It should sync with vSync. (Assuming this context.) Generally, 60 frames per second works well. High frame rates don’t help if your monitor only supports 60 Hz.

Vsync restricts your frame rate to 60 frames per second. Consider disabling it.

When VSync is disabled, I recommend switching your power settings to High Performance, which resolved a problem I experienced.

Disable the FPS cap and V-Sync settings. Save your game, then press escape, go to Video, turn off VSync, and adjust the FPS limit to 120/144 or Unlimited.
