online gaming with 4g
online gaming with 4g
is there a chance? I just got my 4g connection, it's decent—about 35 Mbps upload/30 Mbps download when not fully loaded, which is better than most. My old PC isn't up for gaming right now, and it'll take some time before the new build is ready (just waiting on the case). I'm mainly looking at competitive or fast-paced games like online hack and slash. Has anyone tried this? What did they experience? + no data limits or speed restrictions planned, and I also want to stream in 1080p60 while gaming.
Your latency and variability are more critical than bandwidth for smooth gaming performance.
I used to experience ping between 28-31ms with smooth 100+ fps on my home broadband. Testing on 4G isn’t possible yet, and the current system freezes and emits a burning smell when I try to play. I’m unsure how to check jitter or measure response time properly.
Here are the findings: my connection speed is closer to what you'd expect from Google than the Ookla measurements. I'm looking for the optimal location to connect my phone via USB when tethered—so far, a windowsill seems to be the top choice. I plan to stream on Twitch at 1080p60fps while gaming, focusing mainly on FPS titles like Fortnite, Quake Champions, BF5, Beat Em Ups, SF5 multiplayer, Tekken 7 multiplayer, Soul Calibur 6 multiplayer, Hack and Slash, and MOBA games.
