Online gaming experiences lag and lack precision compared to offline play (offline works well)
Hello. The issue you're experiencing is difficult to articulate, but I'll attempt to explain it. When I'm in an offline gaming session—like during training or practice—I find the game runs smoothly and feels natural. But once I switch to an online match, responsiveness drops noticeably and accuracy suffers, especially with aiming. It could impact movement input as well, though I'm not certain. My frame rate stays nearly consistent, but it fluctuates between 200fps in online play and drops to around 190fps.
My system specs are: RTX 2060, 6GB GDDR6, 8700 MHz I7-8700X, 16GB DDR4 LPDDR4X (new purchase), Asus Prime Z390A (recently upgraded).
The problem is quite unusual. I've tested all my network gear and replaced everything with new parts. I've tried running multiple DDoS tests without success. The issue becomes even more pronounced depending on the game—Overwatch feels sluggish, Valorant is a bit better but still not ideal, while Warzone is much smoother. Even then, it changes constantly.
There used to be a 12-player arena mode in Overwatch that felt great online, but once I switched to Quick Play, Comp, or 3v3, it became extremely frustrating. It never feels consistent. If I play the same mode now, sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. I'm really frustrated and desperate for help finding a solution. I've been working on this for over a year; since the PC has been this way from the start, I thought upgrading would fix it. I've also checked Task Manager during gameplay, but no major issues were found. I only close everything except Discord, Steam, and Razer Synapse.
I completed an online check and achieved 95 megabits per second upload and download with a 6 millisecond response time.
