Good morning everyone, we're facing a small problem at work. OneDrive backup was set up, but the Finance Manager's computer is behaving oddly. It seems the Documents folder in his This PC now points to a shared network drive instead of the intended OneDrive location. When backing up, it accidentally saved files to the Shared P: Drive, which is why documents are no longer accessible to others. We've tried forcing a physical copy onto his device, but it doesn't restore them properly. I'm hoping someone can assist us with this issue.

You have to open them for onedrive to put em back. had the same issue at work. It's a dumb product. Most likely you'll have to download the structure from there and copy paste it back. And kill onedrive. Take it behind the shed and nuke it Big Grin. But for real. DO NOT EVER integrate onedrive on existing pc's without doing a THOROUGH investigation because it WILL fuck shit up.

I would use Total Commander to move all files from Onedrive into a target folder, including subfolders, onto another location on the same machine. Please be patient. Then reach out to an expert to discuss a strategy for reorganizing the data and improving backup methods.

Yes, that's correct. You'll have to review each file individually to ensure everything is in order.

Test it with one example. It serves as a signal to switch things offline as a backup. Another option is to navigate to SharePoint and instruct it to make all files accessible offline rather than just through the OneDrive app. This also initiates this procedure. Please create a duplicate of every OFFLINE file first, just in case they get deleted.

I attempted to launch files to initiate it, but it failed. I’ll create a temporary backup and test via SharePoint.

If you access your Onedrive account via a web browser, you can retrieve the files. After saving them securely, you might attempt to resolve issues with Onedrive or completely erase it if needed. Onedrive presents many challenges, particularly because it attempts to back up all your personal data and then pressures you for subscriptions due to limited free space.
