One virtual desktop connected to a single monitor.
You have a monitor at your desk and a TV elsewhere, likely to stream content from your couch. To use the TV for watching while controlling the PC remotely, an extended desktop setup is ideal. This setup lets you manage both devices as if they were separate, though it may reduce performance for tasks like gaming.
But you need to be physically present at the PC to manage it properly. I own a wireless keyboard and mousepad set, the Logitech K830, which can handle it. However, even from a couch with an extended desktop view, you can’t see the main screen clearly. I’ve tried this when the display was just copied, but then the PC couldn’t do much else. I’m not sure how Virtual Machines function. The goal is for the PC to control everything, but the performance benefit isn’t huge because there’s only one sound source—so game and movie audio play together.
