I own two 16 GB Trident Z kits (four sticks total, eight GB each). All share the same part number and voltage specs. I didn’t purchase a 32 GB set because I bought them at different times. I’m planning to run them on a TUF x570 board, but I don’t have it right now. Based on my experience and the fact that manufacturers sometimes add unexpected restrictions, I’m a bit worried about compatibility. I remember installing a two-stick 32 GB kit on another rig (Taichi Z370) and it wouldn’t boot unless I arranged the sticks in specific slots. It seems the order matters for dual-channel setup. Since I’ll wait a week for the board and have time to check forums, should I stick with this or upgrade my RAM?
I’m highly confident it will function properly. I purchased identical models, matching speeds and timings, yet different versions from a manufacturer two years apart—one "2 x 8gb" model from 2017 and another "2 x 8gb" from 2019. Despite varying model numbers and appearances, everything operated seamlessly. All components ran at the same pace with XMP enabled. Correction: My earlier setup was based on Intel hardware.
I tried this before on a larger setup (four 16 GB units, two for Threadripper 1st Gen). Regardless of the approach, I was limited to around 96 GB. It wasn’t until we upgraded to eight 16 GB units that performance improved significantly.
