Hello everyone, welcome! I've been experiencing slow or unreliable internet for a while and was hoping someone could share tips on improving it. Would upgrading to a new modem or router help? Since my only ISP in the area isn't changing, what options should I consider? Thanks for any advice!
AT&T is known for poor internet performance. They hold a dominant position in many regions, which lets them dismiss concerns and avoid necessary upgrades. From my own experience managing internet issues at my grandparents' place (AT&T), I couldn’t notice any real improvements. It’s hard to expect faster speeds unless they fix their infrastructure. Do you reside in a rural or city setting? If it’s the former, they might roll out gigabit connections soon, but until then there’s limited help available.
DSL is highly dependent on your home’s electrical setup, especially the connections at the pole. There’s a lot you can influence to improve your connection speed and reliability. Consider having AT&T inspect your wiring at your residence. How long has the house been built? Are you aware of when the phone lines were installed?
