Hi all, I'm pretty new to PC gaming, coming from a PS5. I have a question regarding using a second monitor while playing games. I just built a PC: it has a 7800x3d, 4070 Ti Super, and 32 GB of RAM. Works great and runs games well. I have two monitors plugged into the GPU using two Display Port 2.1 cords. The monitors are two LG 27GR83Q-B's, both running at native resolution (1440p) and refresh rate (240 Hz). I have all updated NVidia drivers. Here's the issue: I play Destiny 2 running in fullscreen windowed on one monitor and have Discord/Chrome/etc running on the other. When I have the Destiny window as active, it runs where it is supposed to: I have a frame rate cap at 120 FPS, and it is locked to that value. When this occurs, the other monitor also runs at 120 (confirmed by testUFO and vsync tester). When I click off of the game to do something in the browser or whatever, the game drops down to a locked 30. I assume that this is a setting native to the game to save system resources, as I can't find any way to change it. However, my other monitor (where the browser is open) ALSO drops down to ~80 FPS (confirmed by same utilities). I have tried messing with Vsync settings, both in the game and in the NVidia control panel, and it doesn't seem to affect anything. I have tried lowering one or both's refresh rates, and am still having the same types of issues. I have also tested other games, such as Baldur's Gate 3, which display similar behavior. I'd like to keep the other monitor running higher if possible, that's why I bought them! Given my rig, I don't think it's a system resources issue, is it? The VRAM usage of D2 is pretty low compared to what's available. It seems like the GPU wants both to run both monitors at similar FPS, since when I click back on D2 and make it active, my other monitor's FPS jumps back up to 120. It just seems weird to me. Is there anyway that I can change this, or is this just normal behavior? As I said, I'm pretty new to PC gaming, so I didn't know if I was missing something. Thanks!
