I have a Ryzen setup. Until recently, due to budget constraints, I only ran the built-in fans and disabled game mode in BIOS. I also avoided using the case cover because I noticed it would get very hot during gaming, even for simple titles like CSGO. The reality is I’m not familiar with newer CPUs like this one. Now I’ve got a three-fan package with a controller and two speed settings, and I’m using the case cover while enabling BIOS game mode to boost performance. However, the issue is that my PC crashes when I run Cinebench or render in Premiere Pro. Is it a problem using BIOS game mode with the stock cooler? Could my case be poorly ventilated even with five fans? Are these fans of poor quality? I didn’t install the cooler correctly on the motherboard. At idle temperatures, the CPU stays between 41 and 55 degrees.

Are you turning off the device? What are the maximum operating temperatures? Do you need to know if it's going above 95°C? Also, what are the technical specifications? Which power supply unit are you using?

The game setting seems aimed at maximum performance, possibly pushing all components to their limits. Stability isn’t assured—either the hardware wasn’t well-chosen or your motherboard struggles under the load. What platform are you using? An OC 2700X demands a lot from VRMs; if they can’t handle it, that might be the problem.

Checked the BIOS info; gaming mode uses the CPU at 3.7 to 4.2 GHz, but I’m still unsure about the details.

No, I don't agree. I rarely encounter such high temperatures. My setup includes a Corsair GS Series GS700 PSU, an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max with 16 GB RAM, stock cooler, and a GTX 1070 Ti.

Check the PSU or get one from a functioning machine for testing.

I think game mode was intended for the first Gen Threadripper, which would experience slow performance with games due to too many jobs optimized for many cores. Turning it off disabled half the cores and some titles ran better. I don’t think you should enable it on your 2700x, but make sure PBO is activated in EDIT—seems like I missed this update. Game mode might now provide a few frames. I could be mistaken. Edited May 26, 2020 by brovoker, info corrected.
