Older refreshed desktop fails to update and causes black screens for me
Good day, friends!
It took some time to get back to working on this machine, but now I really need to fix it. My previous message mentioned that I performed a System Restore and it removed the update: Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable. I kept the computer off until today. Now, I tried installing updates again, but the same issue occurred—after installation, the screen stayed black for several minutes, from about 10 to 15 minutes. I restarted it manually, it went into repair mode, but when I tried to restart again, it still remained on a black screen. The update being installed was Commulative Update Preview for .NET Frameworks 3.5, 4.8, and 4.8.1 on Windows 10 Version 22H2 X64.
The next item on the list was updatecatted 2025-05 Commulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64 systems. Could it be that the installation is failing? Please let me know.
The graphic card is currently active and functioning properly. It has replaced an older model, so it isn’t from 2014—it’s a newer setup. Some time ago, the computer experienced unusual issues with system failures and red lights appearing on the motherboard. We resolved it by reinstalling the motherboard into a new case and rearranging the memory modules. I believe it now has two 16GB and eight 8GB memory cards from G-Skills.
After a previous restore that removed CC+, the device started working again and began rebooting. However, it failed once more after installing Windows versions 10.5.5.4, 10.5.7.1, and 10.5.7.1 (Windows 10, version 22H2, x64). I restored the settings, but it remained unresponsive, displaying a black screen. After restoring files, I tried a refresh while keeping my data intact. Unfortunately, the process didn’t succeed; the system returned to a black screen and required manual restart. It then prompted me to undo changes, followed by a repair attempt that didn’t complete. I see visual indicators showing the graphics card generating blue-screen images with text offering recovery options.
At this point, I don’t have funds for another computer. Recently, I began running a medical business and need access to electronic health records for patients.
Thank you.
