I recently got an ASUS Dual GeForce RTX™ 3070 V2 OC Edition 8GB (DUAL-RTX3070-O8G-V2) from a friend. I tried to upgrade my PC but the card isn’t showing up. The system boots normally, but it switches to the built-in graphics. Checking the UEFI/BIOS didn’t reveal any RTX 3070 presence. Although the plastic holder on the PCI connector appears intact, there seems to be an issue. When both 8-pin power connectors are unplugged, two small red LEDs illuminate, confirming power only comes via the PCIe slot. I suspect my motherboard is outdated and can’t handle the 3070’s PCIe 4.0 requirement. My board only supports PCIe 2.0 lanes, which isn’t compatible with the card. The GTX 970 I have also needs PCIe 3.0, but it works fine there. Could there be another solution? I’m considering alternatives since PCIe 4.0 isn’t supported.
The GPU is showing signs of failure, with visible damage and electrical traces indicating it's no longer functioning properly.
