Hey everyone. I’m curious about a retro PC I found in my dad’s room. It’s stuck during booting. I ran some tests with MemTest86 and saw a lot of errors. After cleaning the RAM sticks one by one and testing each, everything passed without issues. Now I’m trying to fix this annoying screen—sometimes it works fine but often it freezes at MemTest. I’m not sure how to disable it or if there’s a way to turn it off without knowing the BIOS settings.

The memory seems faulty, which explains why multiple applications are showing issues. Errors caused by damaged modules can appear and disappear, but right now the best solution is to swap out the RAM modules, since this is the most probable remedy based on the symptoms.

I evaluated each module using memtest86 and all passed without issues. Now I’ll remove one at a time to observe the effects. I’m unsure if I can locate suitable used RAM for a Pentium III, but I’ll give it a try. The challenge is identifying reliable, non-faulty RAM sticks.

Is there an option to disable this prepost test? I removed one memory stick, and what is odd, most of the time when I press DEL to enter BIOS while this screen then after exit BIOS passes this screen.
