Old Topics for UEFI Inquiries
I recently switched to a new motherboard, but it only supports UEFI. My system has two hard drives, and they don’t work with it because it’s using Legacy BIOS. The OS won’t boot, and I’m stuck with the file archive (MBR) partition holding nearly 700GB+ of data. I can’t reformat it since I don’t have any external drives to move the files. I’m unsure if it will still be detected when I reinstall Windows 10.
Your second drive remains unaffected; it uses Legacy with MBR for boot files, while UEFI doesn't rely on it. It functions as storage only if it contains an operating system.
