Initial setup notes:
CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F at 2.5 GHz, 6-core processor
Cooler: Thermalright Silver Soul 135, 82 CFM CPU cooler
Motherboard: MSI MAG B660M MORTAR WIFI DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700
RAM: V-Color SKYWALKER PLUS 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16
Storage: Western Digital Blue SN570 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 (two units)
GPU: Zotac GAMING AMP GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR 8 GB
Case: Silverstone PS15
Current power supply: Corsair CX650F 650 W, 80+ Bronze certified, fully modular ATX
Observations:
With the existing configuration, everything functions smoothly. I’m planning to upgrade to an ITX form factor, so I installed a new Corsair SF750 PSU (Corsair SF750). It didn’t work. I then replaced it with an EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GM, but that also failed. Both units exhibited inconsistent behavior, yet neither operated properly.
Testing all three PSUs revealed identical issues:
- Corsair CX650F: powers on briefly, then clicks and shuts off
- Corsair SF750: makes a clicking sound before turning off
- EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GM: completely unresponsive
I suspect the problem might be related to voltage fluctuations in my apartment. Living in an older building with frequent AC usage causes lights to flicker, which could affect power stability. However, my current PSU is still functioning without issues.
Any advice would be valuable.

every psu uses its unique cables; reusing old ones on a new psu might be the reason your new ones are shorted.

It seemed the same issue occurred. The paper clip test using each unit's cables failed to work.

did you ever use a connected cable from various power supplies? regarding the paper clip test, certain power supplies fail to activate their fans when unloaded, meaning you might need to link something to your power supply to confirm it's powered on.

At first, I connected my existing PSU cables to the new Corsair. However, after retrying with the new Corsair and evga, I switched to their proprietary cables.

I also have an SF750, and it activates the fan at a certain load to stay quiet, which means it's completely fine if the fans don't spin.

I’ve seen that too. The problem remains, because as soon as it turns on, it emits a click and then cuts power.

When attempting to jump start the SF750 using a paperclip, a clicking noise was heard. However, once installed, it functioned properly. Did you verify all connections?
