Hello, welcome to the forum! I've been around for a while in this field. I recently won a retro gaming PC at a convention auction. The details are below, and everything seems to be working except for my Soundblaster card, which is constantly showing static. It plays game audio, as shown in one of the videos, but it keeps distorting and popping. This is my first time dealing with a PC from before 2013, so I'm unfamiliar with older hardware and Windows ME. I've tried rearranging PCI slots, adjusting settings in creative software, and checking the card for damage—nothing found. I'm not sure what to do next. Here are the specs: Windows ME, 512MB RAM, EP-8RDA3+Pro motherboard, GeForce 4 Ti4200 GPU, Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS, AMD Sempron 3300+ CPU, case and power supply unknown. The files attached are 20250222_195511.mp4 and 20250222_201001.mp4.
Are you certain it's not just the poor speakers? Have you tested other options?
It would have been better to mention it from the start, but I did try three different audio devices and they all functioned properly.
