Old motherboard USB 3.0 isn't functioning, new one is working properly
Hello, I own an A320-HDV R4 motherboard with an ASRock 6400-A. It seems like tweaking doesn’t make sense. Recently, I replaced my CPU and the rear USB 3.0 ports stopped functioning. They were working before the change. The biggest issue is that the USB 3.0 ports aren’t showing up in the BIOS at all—except for powering LEDs. The USB 2.0 ports are fine. If I somehow broke the board, I’d expect the 2.0 ports to stop working too, but they remain operational. One thing to note: Windows appears to recognize it, yet when I follow certain online steps about disabling and re-enabling the AMD USB 3.10 Extensible Host Controller, I keep getting a flood of power surge warnings even though nothing is connected. I’ve tried updating the BIOS, updating Windows, clearing RAM, disconnecting the power supply, pressing power and waiting, switching USB 3.0 ports, using different devices, but nothing changes. If anyone has advice or an answer, please let me know!
Previously I experienced a USB problem similar to this, which was due to grounding concerns. While I'm not entirely certain about the motherboard layout, USB 2.0 and 3.0 have different power requirements, so distinct grounding points might be involved. Could you confirm there are no obstructions inside the ports? It's also possible the board was damaged during CPU installation. You might try gently shaking it or repositioning it.
