Official ASUS software for keyboard key remapping
Official ASUS software for keyboard key remapping
Hi, I searched for tools that can remap keys on my keyboard in the same way SteelSeries Engine 3 does for their own devices. I checked Armoury Crate but didn’t find a setting under 'Devices' -> 'System'. Is there an official program for changing keys on ASUS keyboards and laptops with built-in keyboards? I own an ASUS TUF Gaming F17.
Armory Crate is the designated software for Asus peripherals. If your knowledge base isn't listed there, it means you don't have access to Armory Crate and its capabilities. In such situations, you'll need to rely on third-party solutions. It's quite unusual given the product details and the Armoury Crate installation, yet it doesn't appear on the supported PCs list. Could you check if there are any updates or differences in the website's configuration? Also, do you have any suggestions for third-party keyboard programs that replicate the functionality of SteelSeries Engine 3, including macros and repeating features, or would Windows be the most suitable choice for you?
Armory Crate serves various purposes beyond just remapping keys. It seems suitable for adjusting LED colors and profiles. I prefer the Windows setup. For advanced features like macros or repeats, it's better to purchase separate software that works with dedicated tools. For example, I use Corsair Strafe RGB and can handle all those advanced settings in Corsair iCUE. One advantage of third-party programs is the ability to create custom profiles for different games, which are then loaded into the system when a game starts. After closing the game, the default profile used in browsing or Windows is automatically applied.
Windows appears to be my main choice now after looking through various options and finding that Armoury Crate is likely the official solution. I'm not sure how I'll fit a separate keyboard, which feels unusual for a laptop with an integrated one. Thanks!
However, many people own laptops and also utilize dedicated KB, mouse, monitor, external drives, and even an external GPU. It isn't unusual at all.
I've tried using an external monitor with my laptop because it improves readability (my laptop has a 9-inch screen) and I prefer the mouse over the touchpad.
But adding hardware that works with a laptop, like an eGPU, seems strange to me. It might be better to invest in a proper desktop PC instead of a laptop with an eGPU.
