Office 2016 - Are users happy with it? Performance since 2013?
Just curious what users of Office 2016 think of it over version 2013? I had a lot of troubles in 2013 mainly because of stability issues. Even to this day the interface lags and runs choppy when I try to resize a column in a blank spreadsheet. Access 2013 freezes every ten minutes during any sort of development for my work's database. I know my work place is switching to Office 365 Business in December... I'm trying to figure out what to expect. I heavily rely on Office applications. I've searched for a lot of information online. A lot of articles only discuss new features. There's hardly any out there with honest reviews discussing overall feel and usage.
Office 2016 worked well for the last two months, but earlier versions caused problems too. I mainly use it on my primary machine or in a workplace with strong hardware. Since the system is too heavy for just office tasks, I didn’t notice any slowdowns or delays.
I upgraded only to find out I already had it. No noticeable changes. The release candidate Publisher was problematic before, but now seems fine. Excel and Word still work perfectly for me.
I mainly rely on word for documentation since the actual work is handled by other tools like MATLAB. I haven’t touched VBA, thank you.
I purchased and tested the 2016 model today. It performed worse than the 2013 version for me... until I discovered my crossfire configuration might be causing issues. So I turned off crossfire and it worked perfectly—very stable and quick responses. The interface is much clearer now.
