Hello, I'm looking at an MSI X370 SLP Plus board with an R7 3800X. I purchased the 3800X last year when it was affordable, assuming my motherboard wouldn't need Zen 3 support. I kept the CPU for better cooling, but now there are updates suggesting Zen 3 will be added to the X370. I'm wondering if it's possible to sell a CPU that has been overclocked this way. Do you have any experience with this situation? Thanks for your advice.

it wouldn't be an issue as long as the buyer understands what they're receiving.

I know there is no reason, why it should be worth less. I just dont know, if other people see it the same way

It might actually increase in worth because you’ve brought extra value to it. If a buyer familiar with polishing comes along, the price could rise.

I don't think so. I wouldn't pay more for a lapped 3800; I'd prefer to pay less unless she's an overclocker, which I doubt. There are some uncertainties. I'd rather see what I'm getting and decide whether to lap or not. If I did it, I know it was done correctly.

On eBay, used CPUs with lamination seem to fetch slightly less than non-laminated ones. I spotted an outlier—a delided 8600K that sold above average—likely because the seller viewed delamination as a service that boosts value. Most items fared below average prices, but the market doesn’t collapse completely.

Thanks for your input. I checked eBay and didn’t locate any high-end CPUs, so I’m guessing you might have some other idea.
