Are the COEM and OEM keys connected to the mainboard? I just reused the same OEM key on two different systems and it all functioned properly.

I haven't tried OEM keys yet, though I managed to test academic keys. Activating three times on the same day in a virtual machine resulted in my key being blocked or rejected.

Varies by operating system release. Windows 7 and earlier handle them differently than Windows 8 and later.

Yup, I'm on 3rd mobo with 7 HP. Though some branded OEMs (from laptops and prebuilds) are still mostly bound to mobo.
