Are you using a multi-platform setup or the older version? Certain games won’t work unless you enable OBS as an administrator. Some require adjustments mentioned earlier—experiment with fullscreen, windowed borderless, capture window, not game mode, and vice versa. Also explore various downscaling settings. I’ve faced similar issues myself. Look into the OBS forums; the black screen issue is common and its cause varies from person to person.

I captured Skyrim launching via SKSE without any issues. Besides reinitializing the sources and possibly switching the anti-cheat settings, that’s it.
