It looks like the issue is only visible on your main monitor, not the secondary one—could be a problem with that display. I’m not sure if your GPU is faulty, but it seems like the pixel pattern is distorted.

I just notice a plain gray box with a straight line running across it. It's nothing like the chaotic mess of pixels you mentioned earlier.

Problems aren't shown in screenshots. You need to capture a photo of your monitor. My initial reaction is to suspect the display cable. I've noticed various odd noises when DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI cables fail. Test connecting your monitors using different cables, observe if the issue persists (if any).
