I’m evaluating this choice carefully. I recently got an Oculus Rift (CV1) and am considering buying either an Oculus Rift S or an Oculus Quest 2 soon. I used to favor the Quest 2 but have since heard some concerns—possibly about latency—that led me to reconsider. Now I’m leaning toward the Rift S, which is compatible with my older setup. If I need a tethered experience (through Steam or other stores), what’s the key difference between these two and the original Rift? That would matter if the newer versions have more requirements than the classic model. Since everything should work with the old system, setup shouldn’t be an issue, but I’d like to know if the newer models add unnecessary complexity. As a casual gamer who can’t afford mistakes, it’s crucial to make an informed decision now before it impacts my budget for the next several years.
