Occurred a sudden crash during gameplay of WOW/Overwatch 2
You're experiencing crashes while trying to play World of Warcraft or Overwatch 2, sometimes lasting up to 30 minutes and other times only a few minutes. This issue is unique to these two games, while all others function normally. You've already reached out via a support ticket with Blizzard, but no response has been received yet. A forum member might be able to assist you. Checking Event Viewer shows an error log indicating problems with Wow.exe and ntdll.dll. Your system runs Windows 11 Home 64-bit, and you're using the latest drivers and updates. You've tried restarting, running diagnostics, updating software, and reinstalling games, but still face difficulties. You're not a tech expert, so it's frustrating to need help from others.
You're considering a driver problem, though uncertain. How long has your computer been in use? Were the problems recent or gradual? Did they begin after a particular update? Have you made any changes to the hardware?
Join the discussions! Possible issues here include the drive, the processor, and drivers. The 14th generation Intel chips failed early in the 13/14th gen problems. Have you run a stress test? I recommend using Furmark Plus and Prine95. Drivers might be the cause too—NV has had driver updates since January. Some users have found success with an old NVIDIA driver here. If you have two 32GB RAM sticks, it’s worth testing memtest86 to check stability.
Hi, I purchased the latest system in September 2024. In February 2025 I replaced my old SSD with a new SAMSUNG 990 PRO 4 TB drive for all my games and everything worked perfectly. About four to five months ago I faced problems with my GPU drivers while playing Overwatch 2. I tried various driver updates after a clean install, but none resolved the issue. After some research, I found a workaround by removing the Overwatch 2 profile from the drivers using an online tool. My system currently has 2x32GB of RAM. During the installation process only the SSD change was applied. I haven’t stress tested the system yet, but I plan to do so. The RAM and E drive remain untested, though I’ll try them next time. Interestingly, only Overwatch 2 and WOW are causing these errors, while other games run smoothly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Small update Stresstest was normal and chkdsk didn’t detect any problems on the E drive. Memtest will be done tomorrow (no USB drive available at home, so I need to buy one). Edited August 15, 2025 by Xoniar
It seems like you've already checked the basics and still face the problem. Are there any additional steps or alternatives you haven't tried yet?
You're likely thinking the processor is the issue. It's a 14th generation i9. How long did you execute Prime95? Did you run the CPU stress test specifically?
Some of these applications might cause problems and shouldn't be active while you're dealing with these issues. Consider using Windows Defender temporarily. In the meantime, it's best to replace your CPU rather than sticking with an Intel one.
I just ran the prime95 again to confirm, after running for 45 minutes the system still looked good. I used the recommended stresstest that prime95 selects(also test ram). But if this was a cpu issue why do only battlenet games give this error?
It’s possible the issue lies elsewhere in the system. The CPU might not be the main concern here. I’m struggling to figure this out.
