Hello! I'm facing a puzzling problem that's been confusing me and others. It seems the game will suddenly lose frames every few seconds—usually between 30 minutes to a few hours of playtime. The drops happen every 5 to 10 seconds, and the game stutters a lot, no matter what's happening in the game or my surroundings. It can occur while I'm in a busy battle, standing still in a small space, or even when paused. The frames come back and the stuttering continues. I'm really stressed and don't know where to start or what might be causing this. I've tried several fixes: turned off automatic power management on USB ports, adjusted BIOS settings, disabled DOCP, removed Armoury Crate, installed MSI Afterburner, and changed RAM. Still nothing seems to work. My specs are listed above. Can someone help me figure out what's going on?
Have you verified the CPU, GPU, and storage temperatures during operation? Could thermal throttling be occurring? Did memory usage spike at the same time? Was there a background application causing memory leaks? Is your storage device frequently in use during those moments?
Yes I have checked the temperatures, both CPU and GPU are well within standards. The temps don't spike either and are quite stable. Tested with FFXVI and both temps stayed at around 60 degrees. GPU and CPU spikes quite a bit, but they do this before the issue begins as well. Memory Usage is fine, it never maxes out. Even with newer games, it never uses more than maybe 60% RAM VRAM is used to it's limits however as I've only got 8GB there. But this issue just recently began happening. I have played games before where the VRAM got pushed without issue. Drive isn't really used more than normal. No major spikes there, It's not really being used at all, no strain. EDIT: Something very strange also happened now... The FPS increased in the drop. Started going down to 59, then after a while 58, then 57 etc. It began jumping down to the 40s before I got turned the game off. This is so freaking weird...
I haven't ran a benchmark lately, but I don't believe it would trigger the issue as the issue only comes after having a game run long enough. But no things are being maxxed out, the only thing being close to being 100% used is VRAM, but when the stutter appears not even that is used more than it should. It's at 7GB out of 8GB, it might even drop in certain areas to 6GB, but the stutter continues. I can look around and see if I can find a benchmark that keep going and have it loop for a while, maybe that will help
If the system operates well under heavy benchmarking, it suggests the issue isn't hardware-related. It might stem from the game engine itself causing problems.
I'm not completely confident about its compatibility with Windows 11, but it's still worth a shot.
