Review any signs of physical harm you could have caused. When I first started (about 8 years ago), I scratched the motherboard enough to sever the links between the LAN and AUDIO chip and the GPU's rear I/O... Additionally, static could have shocked the motherboard if you weren't properly grounded, as mentioned earlier.
