Occasionally missing the internet
I've experienced intermittent internet issues, often lasting 30 seconds to a few minutes, usually when starting something like a YouTube video. My router pings 8.8.8.8 frequently, and when timeouts occur, my YouTube streams stop, but other activities like websites, games, and Discord calls work fine. The problem started after I upgraded my router for better performance, but it only happened once or two days later. It seems to affect just one of us in our household. How can I diagnose this and what might be causing it? Thanks!
You're likely connected to Wi-Fi. Previously, the problem occurred because my device struggled with random channel changes due to interference. When accessing your router, check if a specific channel is configured or if it's set to auto. Switching to a fixed channel might help. Also, verify if your device supports dual-band operation (2.4GHz and 5GHz). If it doesn't, disable the dual-band feature and use separate SSIDs for each band. If you're using a wired connection, possible causes include driver issues or cable problems.
I managed to adjust that configuration—it was labeled "WLAN Steering." Despite the change, the issue persisted and I had to disconnect and reconnect for it to resolve. It was worth a shot, thank you! If anyone has another solution or insights, I’d love to hear them.
