Occasional power-off in UE titles
Occasional power-off in UE titles
Whenever I launch an Unreal Engine project it shuts down your whole system and restarts. I’m trying to figure out why this happens but don’t know where to start. My machine is an old i7-990x with 24GB DDR3 at 1333MHz, a GTX 1080 Ti, and a 1TB Samsung SSD.
I don't understand your reference. Could you share a screenshot or more details?
PSU is likely the first thing to consider. It might have shut down due to excessive power usage.
I completely loaded the system on both the GPU and CPU, and it managed it smoothly.
The kernel power simply means the OS or another source instructed the PSU to shut down. It could involve RAM drivers, GPU settings, or the PSU itself. Are we certain the operating system is fully compatible with "Unreal" games? I really question it.
The PSU usually doesn't power down due to driver issues or software limitations. It might happen because of a brief load surge or overheating components. Other problems would likely cause the engine to stall or crash. A bad driver could trigger a crash screen, but a hard shutdown is more likely caused by hardware failure.
well i agree there "should" be a bsod, but not necessarily, had this issue with vengeance ram and it was completely random if i get bsod or not but it was always kernel power... changed the ram and the issues went away. ps: i still believe this is a driver support issue, think about it, why only ue games? on other hand getting a new psu probably couldn't hurt either.
