Hello everyone! I bought a Lenovo LOQ 16IRH8 with an i5-13500H, RTX 4050 GPU, and 16GB DDR5 memory at 5200 MHz four months ago. Simple tasks like writing in Word or watching YouTube videos cause random lag spikes whether I’m using battery or AC power. After restarting for a few hours, everything works fine. I suspect the issue might be related to the graphics driver or a custom power plan setting during simple tasks, while gaming runs smoothly and temperatures stay normal. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

During these performance dips, are there any background activities affecting the system? It seems no other applications or games are running that might be responsible. Consider opening Task Manager, filtering by CPU usage, and checking for resource-heavy processes.

No other program is running that could cause this CPU slowdown. I’ll check the Task Manager again, as you mentioned, but I noticed something unusual last time: my CPU clock speeds changed from about 1.8 to 2.8 and then jumped to 3.6 (I’m not sure if that’s normal).

It might relate to the power plans or the system settings. Laptops generally perform better with a low-energy plan than traditional desktops, but since you're not experiencing issues during gaming, excessive energy saving while idle could be the cause. The CPU cores might enter sleep modes too quickly. Try using an app like ParkControl and turn off CPU parking to test. There could also be another factor unrelated to power settings or core behavior—worth checking.

I thought the same thing. I plan to test it and let you know the outcome.

You're facing an issue with your new laptop, and it's currently stuck. Let me see if I can help you resolve it. Have you checked the power connections and restart the device?

I've observed an unusual pattern in the task manager. Whenever it freezes, "System" consistently uses the highest CPU usage tags. Specific entries include: LOQ 16IRH8 LAGS RANDOMLY, LOQ 16IRH8 FREEZE, LOQ 16IRH8 GETS STUCK, LOQ 16APH8 LAGS RANDOMLY, LOQ 16APH8 FREEZE, and LOQ 16APH8 GETS STUCK. Someone else might benefit from reviewing these details.

bro you are right Big GrinDD I think the problem is related to the energy plans, let me explain: There is a plan called " Legion Balance Mode " when using this plan the problem occurs (I have done 2 tests regarding this between yesterday and today) Now using the plan called "Legion Performance Mode " this problem does not occur (or at least it seems that this problem does not occur while using this plan? I have only tried it today and no problem) (this text serves as research use, I am still looking for a solution to the problem of random lag on Lenovo LOQ 16IRH8 and LOQ 16APH8) I will continue doing some tests tomorrow and I will see how it goes. Greetings
