Hey there, I'm really struggling with my 5800x3D B450 ITX setup. It keeps showing problems like hiccups, delays, freezes, and stutters—usually lasting about 0.2 to 0.5 seconds. It’s most obvious when audio or video playback stops completely or gets stuck for a brief moment. The lag is especially noticeable when moving the mouse, giving the impression of a classic delay. This only happens when the system is idle; during gaming it doesn’t seem to occur. I’ve tried changing BIOS settings, rebooting, and testing different software like Spotify, Firefox, Steam, etc. It seems like a sudden change in clock speed or voltage might be the culprit. At idle, it occurs every 2 to 10 minutes.

The hardware looks solid: Ryzen 5800x3D, Gigabyte B450i ITX, 32GB RAM (two 16GB sticks), Hynix DJR chips, Radeon RX Vega 56, Corsair SF600 PSU, and Noctua NHD-15. Everything is stable in normal use. I’ve also done a Win11 install after a previous one on Windows 10. Not to mention, it doesn’t happen with 16GB RAM (two 8GB sticks).

I’ve experimented with RAM speeds and timings—still it happens even with conservative settings. The specs I’m using are:

- 1800MHz RAM at 3600MT/s
- 16-20-20-20-38-60 2T
- 1.42V up to 1600 MHz
- 18-22-22-22-38-62 2T
- 1.48V no change

Timings look fine, and tests with memtest2 and TM5 showed no errors. BIOS settings are stable, and I’ve checked voltage levels, VDIMM, VDDP, and even tried different RAM controllers (ProDOT, AMD OC Leaderboard).

I’ve also adjusted BIOS options like:

- Cool n Quiet OFF
- Core Boost OFF
- PCIe 3 enabled
- CMS legacy BIOS disabled
- Power management set to base clock

No improvements. The audio stack still shows some settings I hoped would help, but nothing seems to stick.

I’m pretty sure something about the RAM controller or voltage regulation is off. I’ve double-checked all values and settings I thought might matter. It’s frustrating because I’m not aiming for high performance—just a stable system without any hiccups.

Any suggestions? Maybe a new motherboard would help, like an ASUS X570i (around 360€) or an AsRock B550i (about 125€), assuming it has a better BIOS? Thanks in advance!
