While attempting to play Path of Exile 2 or Deadlock, the game frequently crashes between 4 and 16 minutes into the session. After restarting it promptly, the issue reappears within the first minute. Continuous loading leads to freezing and eventual system shutdown. My setup includes a 7900xtx GPU, an i9-13900k CPU, 64GB RAM, and a 1300W PSU with F12 BIOS. I initially used PopOS for six months before experiencing deadlock. After switching to Windows, the crashes resumed immediately upon launch of the game. I explored CachyOS and Nobara but couldn't resolve them. I also tried verifying game files, installing multiple drives, stress testing hardware, and updating drivers, yet problems persisted. An older driver helped for a short time, but modern drivers caused more frequent crashes. The RTX 3080 worked only with the latest drivers. Seeking advice on next steps.

Are you experiencing heat issues with your CPU? This might indicate a cooling problem. What type of CPU cooler are you using?

The cooler is working hard due to the high temperature, but it shouldn't cause the whole PC to crash—just the game might slow down. You're considering underclocking as a backup option.

Consider reducing voltage and slowing the clock speed to resolve the problem.

It seems like the issue might be related to overheating. The crashes happened quickly, which suggests a thermal problem rather than a general power issue.
