Occasional BSOD or system crashes
Hi everyone, I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on with my computer. After checking all the usual fixes, I’m stuck with two recurring problems. First, there’s a random BSOD that pops up unexpectedly—whether I’m streaming, playing games, or just browsing—and it’s linked to a driver issue (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) and a failing module called tcpip.sys. Second, my monitors go black briefly, colors invert for a moment, audio freezes or loops, and then the PC restarts smoothly without any errors. I’ve tried updating drivers, BIOS, chipset updates, resetting network commands, and even restarted the modem/router overnight using NirSoft BlueScreenView. The available DMP files show tcpip.sys and ntoskml.exe as problematic, but my memory tests look normal. It seems like a memory-related issue, though I haven’t seen any errors during testing. This keeps happening daily, sometimes multiple times a day, and I’m really hoping someone can help me out before resorting to reformatting. Thanks in advance for your support.
Z490, it seems the battery might be a contributing factor here. I often swap CMOS batteries after five years. Typically they last three to eight years based on the board and power usage cycles. Many windows systems depend a lot on accurate timing, particularly when online. You should find this kind of battery at most stores you visit. It's one of the most popular round-cell varieties.
