Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my PC. Recently, while playing games like Fortnite and now XDefiant, it would either crash with a BSOD or just restart without any warning. A few months ago I checked the event logs and found Kernel-Power errors, so I replaced my Corsair RM850x under warranty. It worked for Fortnite but the problem returned with XDefiant. Now I’m experiencing blue screens and kernel power warnings every time I play, even though my PSU is brand new. I suspect overheating might be the cause—sometimes after a restart the system shows a safe mode message due to CPU heat. I’ve cleaned dust from the case and used an Arctic AIO cooler with a VRAM fan, but nothing seems to fix it. I’ve also bought a FLIR camera to check temperatures, yet everything inside still feels too hot. I’m not sure if it’s the game or my PC, but this keeps happening over months and across different titles. My specs are: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (12 cores), 3.70 GHz, 32 GB RAM, EVGA RTX 3080, Strix X570-E graphics card. I’m really puzzled and hoping someone can help me out.
Recent bios updates? Tested without XMP or DOCP? Do you own a multimeter for checking CMOS battery voltage?
This kernel event isn't connected to power issues. It simply indicates a system crash without using the shutdown option in Windows. You can see it in BSODs, shutdowns or restarts when you hold the power button. It doesn't provide useful diagnostic information.
Sadly, another unexpected restart occurred. DOCP didn't resolve the issue. Without a multimeter, I can only swap the battery. The latest BIOS was installed a few months ago during the PSU check, which led to my PC being locked due to the complicated pin setup for my login. Now I'm starting over again...
Upgrade to the newest BIOS versions. Replace the power source. Use Hard Disk Sentinel to inspect storage devices. Update drivers via ioBit Driver Booster. Run sfc /scannow on Windows. Test memory with memtest86+ or passmark memtest86.
I've checked all possible solutions except swapping the CMOS battery. I'll keep working and may improve if it helps. The hard disk sentinel reported one drive with minimal critical health, but I don't have any storage devices connected or use it for games. Should I disconnect it?
