I own an Asus A88X motherboard with an A10 7700k CPU. It isn't the newest configuration, but these components should manage demanding games for the past couple of years.
My issue is that my PC suddenly powers off unexpectedly. I suspect it might be due to overheating from the CPU. It reached over 65°C during intense gaming sessions, so I installed a coolermaster fan which resolved the temperature problem.
The shutdowns continued. During a movie session I thought it was unrelated to overheating, but after the restart the temperature dropped to around 45°C.
Last week I received a motherboard alert about an unstable PSU (anti-surge). After checking and reconnecting the cables, I cleaned the PSU just in case. I haven’t replaced it yet.
Today I checked the overclocking settings, set them back to 3.6Ghz as the standard in BIOS, then tried the OC tuner option. I’m unfamiliar with it, so I experimented.
Right when I activated the OC tuner, the PC shut down immediately.
The PSU is rated for 500W, but I believe this unit isn’t optimal (around 500W).
What might be causing these shutdowns?
Thanks

If you're running at stock and it functions, you can either keep it as is. When it comes to selecting a PSU, I prefer Platinum because of its high efficiency. For instance, using two 500-watt power supplies, one rated for platinum and the other for 80+, the latter won't perform well. I favor Seasonic.

What is your complete configuration? My initial thought is it's the PSU. If you're doing overclocking, I'd suggest a better one like gold or platinum. Your PSU can't convert power quickly enough to support the overclock. I haven't ever seen any auto overclocking, though that doesn't mean you wouldn't face the same problem if you did it manually.

When selecting a PSU, it's crucial to consider factors beyond just the maximum wattage. As I noted, it's a 500 w power supply unit.

Additionally, I chose not to increase the overclocking, instead lowering the CPU ratio to 0.5 Ghz.
